Years ago, homesteading settlers travelling east from the Appalachian Mountains encountered the first large grasslands they had ever seen. Today, we call these areas prairies. But in those days, the explorers were unfamiliar with the French word. They called these grasslands - the barrens.Today, however, theres nothing barren about Barren River Lake State Resort. Crowning atop a hill above a 10,000 acre lake, the lodge boasts one of the most beautiful vistas in the park system.     Donelson Pike.. TN-255 North via the ramp on the left ramp. Merge onto I-40 toward Knoxville. Take US-231 Exit 238 toward Lebanon.. Murfreesboro. Turn left on S. Cumberland St.. 231 N.. TN-10N. Take second exit on U.S. 231. Continue on 231 to property. I-65 south toward Nashville. Exit 53.. Cave City Glasgow. Turn left onto Ky-70. Stay stright to go onto Ky-90. Follow Ky-90 for 12 miles, at Glasgow, turn right onto U.S. Hwy 31 E. Follow 31 E south for 15 miles, turn right into Barren River Lake State Resorts entrance. I-65 north. Take U.S. 231. Exit 22 toward Bowling Green.. Scottsville. Turn right onto U.S 231 -Scottsville Road. Continue to follow U.S. 231 S, turn left onto 31E. Follow signs to Barren River Lake state Resort, turn left at Hwy 87/31 E intersection into Barren River Lake State Resorts entrance. Barren River Lake State Resort is located 44 miles southeast of Bowling Green, KY off U.S. Highway 31 E on Barren River Lake. Nashville Intl Airport (BNA)
